Holiday Toy Drive!

Thushara is organizing toy drive to support Toys for Tots, the non-profit run by the Marine Corp Reserve. The program has been around since 1947. They collect toys in the same community where they are donated and distribute them to children who are less fortunate. They provided a list of acceptable toys. If you want to participate, please bring your unwrapped toy to the satsang on December 14th at Anupama’s and Sudarshan’s. Thushara will drive them to their designated drop-off location the next day, which is their deadline for receiving toys.

Here is the list of acceptable toys. Please bring them unwrapped so they can assess the right gifts for their eligible families.  

NO  toys resembling weapons

Toys for Tots has guidelines for what can be donated, including:
• New and unwrapped: Toys should be new and unwrapped.
• Price: Toys should be valued at $10 or more.
• Age: Toys are for children up to age 12
• Type: Toys should not be used, look like realistic weapons, or contain food or candy. Toys with chemicals are also not accepted. Homemade toys are acceptable.
• Books: Three books count as one gift.
