MACC Celebrates Deepavali
Deepavali (array of lights) is a fusion of two Sanskrit words: deepa – lamp, lantern, that which lights or illuminates and āvali – array, range, or series. Known also as Diwali, this Indian autumn festival is popular as the ‘Festival of Lights.’
The significance of the festival may carry nuanced differences according to region and within the traditions of Hinduism.
However, despite all the differences, a common symbolism remains – it's an important occasion that marks the victory of light over darkness, knowledge over ignorance, and good over evil.
Wednesday, November 7 will be observed as Deepavali/Diwali.
MACC will celebrate this festival on Saturday, November 10.
