Maha Shivaratri - The Great Night of Lord Shiva And Homa Ceremony

The great night of Lord Shiva will be celebrated with a traditional all-night program. Spiritual practices done on this night are considered to be especially beneficial. Staying awake is symbolic of the awareness and oneness of purpose that a spiritual aspirant needs to reach the goal.

The program will include Stories of Lord Shiva, a Puja ceremony to Lord Shiva, chanting, and devotional singing, and will culminate with a Homa, a sacred fire ceremony performed by Brahmacharini Rema Devi, one of Amma’s senior monastic disciples (See below for details).

A simple dinner will be served at 9:00 pm, and there will be breaks for chai. Proceeds benefit Amma's charitable projects.

BART pickup will be available at 7 PM from Castro Valley Station. Please RSVP by leaving a message on the BART pickup extension: 510-537-9417 x 447
