Fulfilling Guru's wish - A November Tour story
Fulfilling Guru's Wish - An Act of Devotion.
For the past year, painting and refreshing Amrita Hall has been an ongoing Seva project at the ashram. The walls of the hall were painted and new pictures were hung just before Amma's Summer 2015 Tour. During this visit, on November 15, Sunday evening, Amma's expressed her wish, to see the wooden railings of the balcony painted; before the next program on Monday afternoon.
Our regular seva team and other volunteers started the prep work even before the program ended at 1:15 am on Sunday. The prep work finished around 3 am. By 5:30 am, Monday, the ashram truck was at the paint store, buying paint. The painting started at 6 am and continued until 1 pm. After which the team cleaned and set up the hall, ready for the Retreatants trickling in at 3 pm. And Amma said - " It looks like a palace now!"
This amazing act of devotion was carried out on little or no sleep by 45 volunteers - the band of volunteers included the regular ashram seva team and others who were there to attend Amma's programs. As one of the painters said, "It was such a uplifting experience. I am so thankful to have been part of this project. Because, after all, how often do you get a direct wish/request from Amma."
One attendee remarked - " I was so amazed to witness how fast such a detailed painting project could get done and be totally dry so soon! When you have faith and you try something you will be amazed at the results" - Well said indeed.
