Ron Gottsegen, President of the Board of MA Centers passes away
It is with great sadness that we inform you, Amma's son Ron Gottsegen, passed from his earthly existence, in Amritapuri, merging at Amma’s Lotus Feet, on Friday, October 7th morning (IST).
We are overcome with gratitude for all the decades we have been inspired by and benefitted from Ronji’s presence, though our hearts are filled with the sense of great loss. His example of true selfless service, unwavering dedication, humility, perseverance, and profound love for Amma and all her children will shine as a brilliant beacon for us, as we travel our paths.
Ronji had been instrumental in establishing Amma's centers in North America, beginning with MA Center San Ramon, California where he spent the first couple of decades after meeting Amma.
Ronji has served in several impactful and crucial administrative roles, including as the President of the Board of MA Centers and Administrative Head of Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences, Kochi, India.
Ron Gottsegen was born on 18 July 1936.
In 1987, Ron Gottsegen met Amma in Berkeley, during her first visit to the United States. “I was a very successful businessperson, but there was always something missing in my life. She just captivated my heart right from my first meeting,” he says.
"Receiving my first hug from Amma was such an overwhelming experience. I felt a quietness, a peacefulness, and I understood for the first time what unconditional love was," said Ron Gottsegen. He dedicated his life to Amma and her charitable work.
Gottsegen sold his business (a successful electronic security alarm company, Salinas-based ‘Radionics’) and helped acquire the land in 1989 to open the M.A. Center Ashram in San Ramon, California, a spiritual community where people could live by Amma’s teachings.
The Amrita family profoundly mourns the passing of a cherished Sevak and a much-loved brother.
