Why the 999 Challenge?

The Integrated Holistic Health working group of the C20, has designed this simple 9-day practice to highlight the physical benefits and mental well-being of yoga and meditation. Participants of the challenge have reported experiencing more optimism in their life perspective, better energy levels and an overall sense of well-being.

Your participation reaches beyond your personal benefits and serves to support Amma’s Vision for C20 public healthcare policy. In turn, this provides feedback for policy recommendations to influence the integration of holistic healthcare approaches into the global health care system. Testimony from your 999 Challenge experience is integral to the analysis of data for the C20 public health care policy.
You will receive a link to a feedback form to share how your participation in the 999 affected you. Please complete this form as soon as you have finished your 9-day challenge.

Expanding the mind set for healthcare to include all modalities is something we can all support by participating in the 999 challenge and having our own experience to share.

About Surya Namaskar

Surya Namaskar is known to be a complete yoga practice in itself, as it addresses stretching the body in all directions and with awareness of the breath it becomes a calming, devotional practice. Its origins are ancient. Upon rising each day, the Ancient people, first offered worship to the Sun and Earth in gratitude and reverence. In these turbulent times, there is no better time than now to offer these prayers to Nature for harmony and peace. One could even say it is our dharmic offering as a citizen of the world or spiritual seeker. Traditionally, Surya Namaskar is offered at sunrise, but any time before sunset is sufficient. Attention to the inhalations and exhalations in tandem with the movements are central to the Surya Namaskar. It is best performed on an empty stomach and at a pace comfortable for you.
