Welcome to the Potsdam Satsang
With the blessings of Amma, we have been conducting our Satsang since 2006. We meet once in a month, typically the first Saturday of every month. Sometimes, we meet more than once in a month to observe special occasions such as Amma's birth day, Dussehra (Navaratri), Deepavali (the festival of light), birthday of Saraswati Devi (Goddess of learning) etc.
Our Satsang is held at 12 Bradley Drive, Potsdam, NY. We meet in the evening, the starting time varies - between 5:30PM to 6:30PM depending if it is winter or spring/fall. The activities include short videos on Amma, spiritual readings/discussion, chanting of 108 names of Amma, hymns to Lord Ganesh (the remover of obstacles), Lord Shiva (the auspicious one) and Bhajans (divine songs). Most of the bhajans are played from a CD and are led by Amma in the audio recordings. We finish our Bhajans with closing prayers and chanting for peace.
After the Bhajan, we eat a vegetarian dinner as prasad. The Satsang participants voluntarily contribute to this dinner.
In addition to the regular monthly meetings we have been serving community dinners at a local church time to time based on the requests of the church. The community dinner experience has been very moving and uplifting for all of us. It truly reflects the beauty of Amma's message of selfless service.
