Welcome to the Queens Satsang
The Queens satsang ought in fact to be known as the New Hyde Park satsang but, having started on Hillside Avenue in Queens, just a few miles away, it is still affectionately referred to as the Queens satsang.
Our group is at its base mostly composed of first generation Indian families from Kerala, Mother's home state; so practically everyone speaks Amma's Indian Malayalam language. Our group is a very family oriented group with parents, children, grandchildren and grandparents gathering around Amma's smiling image to sing and to praise our dear teacher. Every age group is represented and takes its rightful place within this family.
The Queens satsang's strong suit is music and devotional singing. The singers are well trained and well rehearsed. Karthikeyan, our musical director, gets credit for everything musical. Many attend our satsang regularly for the devotional energy arising from singers, musicians and Amma’s heart stirring songs.
A home-cooked meal crowns the evening after prayers, and members of our group gather and catch up during the meal, while the young play.
Our group is a quiet, tight knit, friendly group always looking to include and befriend. It is ideal for families and singles, for Indians and non Indians. Please know that this Amma group looks forward to receive you and make you feel at home. So come and be with us, with family.
Meeting schedule - Our group usually gets together on the 3rd Saturday of every month.
