Growing up with Inspiration!

Helping Children in Kenya
Noel and Nicholas continue to joyfully serve children in Kenya!

When I was in 3rd Grade, we watched Embracing Kenya. Afterwards, I wanted to help the children I saw at Amma’s school in Nairobi. Four to six times a year we send different things that we think might be useful for the kids. Since they were trying to start a garden, we were sending them heirloom seeds, but last winter, we were told that the postal regulations no longer accept seeds in mailings, so lately we've been sending mostly school supplies. Items like pencils, erasers, rulers, stickers, coloring pages, short books, paper, and decorations for the classroom. We are getting ready to send some more garden supplies for our September mailing and will include gardening gloves, tape, and  laminated labels for new seeds.

Every once in a while, we receive a note or email from the teachers with details on how the kids have been using the supplies we send.

Last year, the kids even sent photos and made us crafts that were sent to us through a devotee who was visiting the center to help with the garden. The kids who are in the oldest class there are my age and the youngest are a little older than my brother, Nicolas.

We learned that the food being grown in the garden at the school is not only feeding the students there, but also feeding the kids in the surrounding villages at least once a week!
