Participation of ABK in the 8th Annual World Peace Interfaith Prayer Service

Amrita Bala Kendra (ABK) children of M.A. Center Chicago, representing the Hindu faith, delivered a speech at  the 8th Annual World Peace Day Interfaith Prayer Service program, held on January 1, 2013 at Wentz Concert Hall in Naperville, IL.  Since the theme for the event was “Breaking Down the Mysteries Between Us- Seeking Peace Through Understanding” the speech delivered by the children were based on Amma's two important talks: “Understanding and Collaboration Between Religions” at the Interfaith Center of New York in 2006 and “Compassion- the Only Way to Peace” at Cinema Verite's 2007 Film Festival in Paris. The Baha'i, Sikh, Christian, Jewish, Muslim, and Buddhist faiths were also represented at the event. ABK children set off the proceedings with a bold and clear delivery that was well appreciated by the audience.

The speech highlighted the importance of Amma's vision for World Peace. It underscored the importance of imbibing Spirituality as the inner essence and stressed that all religious leaders should come forward to sing the peace song of universal unity and love. The speech ended on the Amma's oft-repeated note that “compassion is the only true solution; it is the foundation of peace. Compassion resides within everyone and we must turn inwards to search deep within ourselves”.

ABK children concluded their presentation by inviting all the participants to chant the World peace prayer “Aum Lokah Samastah Sukhino Bhavantu” and also “Asatoma Sadgamaya”. It was a great honor for our ABK children to participate in this event and communicate to the world about Amma's vision for World Peace.
