COVID Community Outreach
MA Center of Michigan has been engaged in tireless service to the community during the quarantine. We've quickly come together as a family working towards the upliftment of our community through various projects such as raising funds and making face masks. Click on the links above to find out more about each project.
Social Distancing Face Masks
Several of our members are making cloth masks which are delivered to people without access to them. 40 were delivered to International students at U of Michigan, 50 to Wayne State university students, 20 N95 masks to Henry Ford hospital. The demand for masks is continuous and we will keep providing them to anyone who needs them.
Lunch bags for Food Gatherers
Members are putting together 100 lunch bags/week for children and dropping them off at Food Gatherers who are distributing them in the community.
Fundraising for COVID Relief
Satsang members have donated funds to help in food programs. We have donated
- $500 to Hutkay Fusion offering free lunches as well as delivering free lunches to 3 homeless shelters
- $500 to Healthcare Heroes, organized by MiIndia in collaboration with neighborhood restaurants who provide free meals to the workers
Circle of Love - Seniors
At this time, when seniors in nursing homes, assisted living and senior centers are continuously being bombarded with news of deaths in senior facilities, we decided to write little cheery notes to the seniors and dropped them of along with a little treat to the caregivers of the facilities. A huge shout out to the little kids in our satsang, Gauri (10yrs) and Vishnu (5yrs), also sent in their beautiful artwork and letters of hope and love.
