July 22: Farming Seva

Volunteer weeding veggie garden

Eggplant, zucchini, poi, kale, Swiss chard & string beans

It was another busy weekend in the orchard and veggie garden, in spite of the sporadic rain. Eggplant, zucchini, poi (Malabar spinach), Swiss chard and kale were sold, and 30 lbs of Swiss chard was donated to a local food bank. We are seeing signs that string beans will be ready to harvest this Saturday! In the upper orchard, diseased apples were picked and disposed of, to prevent further pathogen spread. One of our Amma Canada directors, Atulya, visited the Farm this week and was given a tour of the orchard, bee hives, and veggie garden. She was pleased with the many changes happening on the grounds.

Your help is greatly appreciated with harvesting, weeding, orchard work, grass cutting, and more, this Saturday, July 22, between 10 AM and 4 PM. You can choose your seva by signing up HERE. Please come and enjoy the camaraderie, bhajans and a light lunch with us. For more info or to reach the Farm Team, email ammatoronto@ammagroups.org.
