September 9: Farming Seva

Volunteers picking pears

Join for Farm Seva or Buy Produce this Saturday from 11 AM - 3 PM

Thank you for your continued support assisting in Amma's gardens and orchard, and other ground sevas, and in shopping at the veggie stall. Your support means a lot. The orchard activities are now in full swing! Since the last update on August 28, 922 lbs of pears have been donated to food banks, bringing our total food bank donations of fruit to 2,365 lbs. With the exception of about five trees, our early ripening pear trees were harvested this weekend. We have stored as many as possible in our one small cooler. These will be kept for sales, the remainder (approximately 1,000 lbs) is being distributed to food banks since this Tuesday, September 5. Many thanks to all who helped with the harvesting of pears!

Starting this Saturday, we will begin harvesting some early ripening apples. Mid-September into October will be our peak period for apple harvesting. While apples do keep better than pears, the sheer volume of apples and the lack of storage space will make distribution to food banks a necessity. Your ongoing support with harvesting and distribution is needed. If anyone is free during the week to pick up some apples for distribution, please let Brian know. Volunteers are needed for harvesting and more this Saturday, September 9 between 11 AM - 3 PM. Kindly remember to wear close-toed shoes. A light lunch will be provided. Please sign up HERE.

Our veggie stall will open for sales from this Saturday, September 9 between 12 AM - 4 PM and for 30 min after satsang. Come and buy fresh poi (Malabar spinach), tomatoes, potatoes, garlic, onions, Swiss Chard, kale, eggplant, apples, pears and more. Don't forget to bring your own bags (cloth or other) for your veggie purchases! See you soon!
