SILENT AUCTION FOR KERALA FLOOD VICTIMS
About Our Auction
As many of you may know, Kerala has experienced severe floods in 2018 and 2019. It is said to be Kerala's worst floods since 1924. These floods have caused countless landslides, extensive crop and property destruction.
In 2018 Amma had donated ₹10 crores [$1,418,000 U.S.] to the Kerala Chief Minister’s Distress Relief Fund. This year M. A. Math on behalf of Amma will donate ₹100,000 ($1,500) to every family who has lost one or more family members in these floods. To date, more than 100 lives have been lost and more than 50 people remain missing. In last year’s floods, the death toll had reached nearly 500. Amma feels the recent floodings are due to the indiscriminate chopping down of trees and other such abuses of nature.
Proceeds from our silent online auction will benefit the victims of these floods. To find updates on Embracing the World's response to the Kerala flood relief efforts, visit: http://www.embracingtheworld.org/news/kerala-floods-relief/
Online auctions in the past have contributed to many of Amma's humanitarian projects across the globe, including: Amrita Kuteeram (Amma's housing project), disaster relief efforts, and the Farmer Relief Project. Our annual auctions in the past have built houses in India for the poor, contributed to the 2013 Typhoon Haiyan relief funds in the Philippines, 2011 Japan earthquake and Tsunami relief funds, 2010 Haiti earthquake disaster relief efforts, 2005 Hurricane Katrina relief funds in the US, and supported both phases of the 2004 Tsunami relief efforts.
