Three volunteers from Eugene, Oregon are the latest group to join the growing North American project known as the "Litter Pick-Up Project" which started in Seattle in 2011, inspired by Amma's campaign to clean up India. In Eugene, this new group is calling themselves the "River of Love" Litter Project. For their first outing, they went to a bridge just outside the entrance to a local park, Mount Pisgah. It was a very warm morning, so they only lasted about an hour and a half, but collected quite a volume of trash from along the banks of the river, as well as in the area surrounding a nearby parking lot. Everything from cigarette butts to baby diapers, lots of cans & bottles, and even some clothing and a blanket, which they will launder and take to St. Vinny's.
They truly loved and embraced the idea of removing trash from Mother Earth. The tentative plan is to make this a monthly event and adopting a section of the river for which the Eugene, Oregon satsang would be responsible.
