ABOUT ARCHANA

The Sanskrit text Amma feels is beneficial to recite on a regular basis is the Sri Lalitha Sahasranama (Archana). These 1000 verses personify and honor the Divine Mother – the sacred feminine principle that guides, nourishes and protects us all.

The 108 Names of Amma and Sri Lalitha Sahasranama are universal and may be recited by anyone.

To have the greatest effect, say the names with sincerity and devotion. Some people find it helpful to touch the center of the chest each time a verse is spoken, visualize beautiful flowers representing divine love opening within us, and extend the hand, offering the flowers of our heart at the Divine Mother’s feet.

Learning the entire 1000 Names may seem daunting. By dividing the task into small segments, you will succeed. Amma assures us that even if our pronunciation is halting, we will derive great benefits. Try your best to recite them with an open heart, while envisioning the Divine. To help you chant, you can purchase a CD and an Archana book with English translation and phonetic transliteration.

The MA Center LA launched a new recurring special event on November 4th, 2017, called the “Laksharchana” or chanting the Names of the Divine Mother (Lalita Sahasranama) 100,000 times in dedication to Amma.

 

In Sanskrit Laksham means one lakh or 100,000 (Lakhsarchana is considered very sacred and very powerful) and the first event was a success, with over 40 people attending from multiple SoCal cities to chant the archana back-to-back 5 times in one sitting.

 

The event lasted from 9 AM to 2 PM, after which people had lunch.  Stretching was done in between chanting and delicious chai was served.  People attended from as far as San Diego.  Everyone was very enthusiastic, and were happy to know that this will be a regular event at the MA Center LA.

 

The Laksharchana will be held once per quarter.   Note that Laksharchana has no call-in option - it is in-person only.

most everyone arrived by 8:45am - Laksharchana will started at 9:00am til 2:00pm followed by Satsang.

 

Every Thursday we chant the Archana (1000 Names of the Divine Mother) from 7:30 pm to 8:30 pm.

We do this on Thursday because it is the traditional day to honor and show reverence to our teachers, do spiritual practices, and visit temples.
