Why we partner with Project H.O.P.E:
Faith, Hope and Charity know a common purpose: everyone has a right to eat. Santa Monica, California actively makes a difference among its homeless population who receive weekly feedings by both Mother’s Kitchen and H.O.P.E.  (Help Other People Eat). The founder of H.O.P.E, Moira La Mountain, says that the autonomous group of volunteers grew together out of an unwillingness to put a cap on the number of people who got fed. La Mountain joined with Amma devotee Raduca Kaplan back in the early 1990s, when public park feedings were illegal in Santa Monica. The transformation from the park to the current facility resulted from both law and consciousness.

Today, Mother’s Kitchen cooks, transports and serves a hot meal to over a hundred of the poor and needy  in Santa Monica every Wednesday and Thursday. Some people devote time, some talent, but it takes the whole village. La Mountain believes that we are all aligned in the same spiritual way, no matter how one defines it.
